Getting To Know…Rob Swanson
What individuals have influenced you most and how?
Every one of the people I’ve had the privilege of interviewing for Look Up Orlando. I had no idea how many people are truly active in our community; I’m at once convicted by how little I do, and encouraged that I at least get to share their lives with our readers.
What would surprise us to know about you?
My background is in theater. I’ve been in an award winning opera, a short-lived soap opera, and dozens of stage plays. Besides being a writer, I’ve branched out into micro-publishing as Prevail Press, with an online presence at www.prevailpress.com.
What hidden talent do you have?
I’m not really known for hiding my talents. Smile. I know more about comic books from 1965 to 1996 than anyone should have a right to.
At what age did you trust Christ as your Savior?
Twenty years old. I’d managed to break every commandment I tried to live by in a single night (10 was too many, I’d shortened it to 3). In a flash of divine insight I saw myself for who I really was and was undone. I cried out to God for three days and then He brought a wonderful church into my life who walked me along the Roman Road into salvation.
Do you have any pets?
My dog Rainier recently passed away, so we rescued a four-month-old Chihuahua we named Grizzly Prancer-Spot. He doesn’t fill the space in our heart reserved for Rainey, but he’s digging his own space rapidly.
What is your favorite sports team?
My son Ben’s Northwest Little League team. Nothing else comes close!
